In February, I flew out with two friends to Bangkok and spent four months travelling around Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. I took thousands of photographs (around 12,000) all just on my iPhone 15.
The trip fed my eyes and brain with sources of inspiration that I will be able to pull from for the rest of my life. It also shaped my mind in many other ways that I’m grateful for. Both my organisation and social skills hugely developed from four months’ worth of booking accommodation, transport and activities, as well as meeting new people every day. I will carry the memories and skills with me into my creativity and future career.

The two colour typologies are blue in Bangkok and red in Hanoi. Adding a purpose to my observation of these big, busy cities was incredibly enjoyable and I noticed things I never normally would have. I like the wider range of shades in the blues, but also the impact created by the similarity of the reds. Additionally, I like that the commonplace aspects, which wouldn’t necessarily make ‘good’ pictures by themselves, are interesting insights into that specific place as a whole.
The door and symbol typologies came from noticing these things in many beautiful variations. It was fun to have little ongoing treasure hunts, and my friends even started pointing them out for me too. The symbols are everywhere in Vietnam and come from Chinese characters that mean things like love, happiness and prosperity.
